The Envelope Works buys two Halm presses to meet rise in four-colour demand

Envelope printer and manufacturer The Envelope Works has invested in a Halm EM4000 four-colour press and a Halm 6in two-colour jet press in response to an increasing demand for four-colour work.

Both machines, which form part of a £150,000 spend, have been in place at the Earby Lancashire-based company since the beginning of August.

Managing director Mark Farrimond said the impact following the press installations, as well as the installation of a new MIS, had been instant.

"We were finding that we simply could not keep up with the sheer volume of four-colour enquiries we were receiving," he added.

"We are very proud of everything we have here – it's not all doom and gloom out there. By being aggressive and pro-active, along with being vigilant and shrewd, we can still grow our businesses during these very tough times."

The company, which moved from Halifax, Yorkshire, to new purpose-built premises at the start of the year, claimed it had experienced a 25% rise in sales after taking on an additional six staff.

The Halm presses have joined three four-colour machines and eight two-colour models.

Farrimond said: "The new site has given everyone a buzz and the knock-on effect has been a 25% increase in business, which, when we consider the economic uncertainty we are still facing, is phenomenal growth."
