The supermarket is understood to have transferred work from Londons Seven to Kestrel, based in Witham, Essex. However, Seven has won other work for the supermarket group.
Neither firm would comment, but a source said Seven had been dropped from the frozen food account in favour of Kestrel.
Seven has taken on bakery products and packaging for impulse-buy goods from Birminghams Red 485, a big player on the roster. It was unclear what the shake up means for Red 485.
Meanwhile Kestrel has had to balance the frozen-food packaging win with the loss of non-food products, which have been offered to the McGurk Group.
McGurk is the addition to Tescos roster and will split the work between its London and Hull plants.
Its all rather confidential, said the source. The overall spend was in the range of 4.5m and 5m on artwork and pre-press for everything.
All of the firms involved said it was too early to comment on the change, with McGurk Group expecting to make an announcement next week.
Tescos head of packaging design, Jeremy Lindley, would only say: Ive been conducting a review and retender but its confidential right now because people and firms are involved.
