Hewlett-Packard reseller Perfect Colours has sold a Hewlett-Packard Design-Jet 1050 to the Daily Telegraph, which the paper has introduced to its pre-press imaging department.
It will mainly use the printer, bought in a 10,000 deal, for proofing editorial images and classified advertising colour files.
David Flynn, publishing director of the Telegraph Group, said the company had looked for a printer that would print on newsprint stock, deliver much faster than DuPont Digital Crom-alins and be capable of matching press output.
Flynn said that due to its speed, the company was now able to print in-house short-run publicity material, such as posters, which had previously been outsourced.
