Tech8 to offer third-party service and warranty to wide-format printers

A dedicated wide-format equipment servicing company has been formed, claiming to offer a better service than vendors' and distributors' own warranties.

Tech8 is the brainchild of technical director Dave Plunckett, who has 23 years experience in the print industry.

"While other service contracts often include disclaimers stipulating what items are and are not covered, Tech8 have a simple message: 'We cover it all. If it breaks we'll fix it, regardless of how it was broken'," said Plunckett. "We offer fully comprehensive and rapid-response cover with no additional costs."

Equipment covered by the company includes Agfa, HP, Mimaki, Mutoh, Roland and Uniform.

In addition to breakdown cover the business also offers accidental damage cover.

Site visits are backed up phone and email logging and tracking, and there is also a service outside standard office hours if needed to maintain production.

Guaranteed response time is next working day, although the company claims that its 18-strong team of support engineers can often get to a customer in a much quicker time than that.

The firm is also interested in discussing with manufacturers and resellers whether they will outsource service and technical support to it.
