TALL eyes growth in security sector

Security printer The TALL Group plans to keep on growing its business, and expects to see software products from an ever-increasing part of its operations.

TALL Group managing director Martin Ruda said he expected the business to grow both organically and through acquisitions over the next few years, as consolidation continues in the security-printing sector.

"We currently have a number of irons in the fire," he said.

As the sector of security and business cheque and special cheque printing changes and evolves, Ruda said he could foresee that systems and software products would increase their foothold.

"They account for 10% of our revenues today, but I think they will be in the region of between 20-25% within the next three to four years," he said.

New product developments are also underway, including a BACS remittance advice module, which is currently being trialled. This ties the BACS transmission file to TALL's printing solution.

The payment information will be taken and will issue either an e-mail instruction, a fax instruction, or an instruction to TALL group to generate a printed document.

The BACS remittance advice module has been developed in partnership with BACS solution provider Eiger Systems.

Ruda said he expected the group to achieve another year of growth and profitability this year. This is despite a backdrop of decline in the use of cheques of between 5% and 6% per year.

"Against this we have continuously grown our business, adding products and services that are not traditional cheques, but also our cheque business has continued to grow."
