Although SunChemicals turnover almost doubled to 350m for the year to 31 December 2000, its pre-tax loss rose 236% to 28.9m.
The company, whose accounts have just been filed at Companies House, has subsidiaries including SunChemical Inks (Ireland), SunChemical Investments and Coates Brothers.
SunChemical Europe senior vice-president David Meldram was unavailable for comment as PrintWeek went to press.
* SunChemical Europe chairman Andrew Cova has opened a liquid inks technical centre, named after him, at Yate, near Bristol.
