The consumables giant attributed the rises to high demand for speciality chemicals, high oil prices and increased environmental and transport costs.

It is the second price rise that the firm has announced this month. Earlier it announced rises of 3-8% for flexible packaging inks and coatings.

The British Coatings Federation also warned of price rises in 2005 of 5-15%.
