St Ives hopes to avoid industrial action over web wage demands

St Ives hopes to avoid industrial action in its web division by reaching a sensible agreement with employees.

Workers at Plymouths bindery had refused to work weekend overtime, delaying some titles, and Andover staff have been balloted on industrial action as a result of a dispute over this years pay round, according to GPMU deputy general secretary Tony Burke.

Web division managing director David Emeny said: Print prices have fallen considerably and we cant continue to pay our workforce an annual wage increase as a matter of course without reducing costs or getting more flexibility into the business. I expect to reach a sensible agreement with all the factories.
