General commercial printer Spot on Print has taken on a new Durselen UD-04 drill to maintain continuity.

Supplied by Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS) and installed at High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire-based Spot on Print's premises in August, the machine has replaced an ageing drill that completed a core process in the firm's work.

“It was essential to maintain the continuity, so we needed a straightforward replacement,” said managing director Darren Lewis.

The 27-staff family-run business produces direct mail, folders, leaflets and corporate brochures, stationery and packaging on a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75 litho press and an HP Indigo digital press.

It works with a diverse range of sectors including animal health, banking, the music industry, local schools and charities.

The company said its longstanding relationship with IFS was the key convincer in its investment in the Durselen drill.

We trust IFS and the systems they install. For us it was about choosing a supplier where we have a strong relationship and we know they will help us if ever it is needed. It is all about the people. That for me was the most important thing,” said Lewis.

Suited to all standard applications, the Durselen UD-04 features four individually adjustable drill heads, a sliding table with programme trim, spacers for easy set-up of standard hole patterns in A4 and A5 and gliding coasters for easy relocation. It has a list price of £12,500.

Lewis added social distancing restrictions were observed during the installation and “everything went very smoothly”.
