Signbox has installed a SwissQprint Nyala 4 flatbed printer to expand its customer offering and meet increased production volumes.

Quality, performance, flexibility, and sustainability were all key for Signbox and, having seen the 3.2×2m machine in action at Sign & Digital UK and a subsequent full demonstration at SwissQprint’s UK headquarters in Bracknell, the Egham-based business was impressed and installed the machine in August.

The Signbox team opted to use all of the Nyala’s nine colour channels, selecting six colours, white, spot orange, and varnish. The addition of orange provides an extended gamut in red and orange tones, while the varnish offers high-quality visual and haptic effects.

The Nyala prints at up to 206sqm/hr at up to 1,350dpi. For added versatility and productivity, Signbox specified the roll-to-roll and dual roll options to enable the business to benefit from the extra capability of printing narrow rolls of material overnight.

“When we saw the Nyala at Sign UK for the first time, it was clear that it would immediately benefit our business,” said Signbox managing director Mark Bartlett.

“Its production output, flexibility and quality are clearly second to none. However, it is the little things like perfecting a true orange and the ability to print braille that are done so well by SwissQprint and will help us provide new and inspirational signage solutions.”

The ability to print high quality directly onto glass will also be beneficial to Signbox, the business said, for branding required by interiors and office spaces.

On the sustainability front, the machine boasts low energy requirements while the UV-curable inks it uses are Greenguard Gold certified.

Founded in 1985, Signbox produces exterior and interior signs, illuminated signs, digital screens, environmental graphics, and wayfinding graphics, and serves a raft of blue-chip clients and SMEs.
