Shaftless sheetfed from MAN

MAN Roland will show a shaftless sheetfed press at Drupa which it claims will dramatically reduce the time taken to change between jobs, especially on long perfectors.

It claims that DirectDrive, which is based on technology developed for its web presses, is an industry first.

It will be demonstrated on a MAN Roland 700 at Drupa and has been tested at a German customer.

MAN Roland claims the benefits of the technology include simultaneously changing all plates at once while washing-up. It also opens up the possibility of flying plate changes for different language black plates.

Commercial availability will be announced at the show.

Future developments could include a machine with DICO on-press imaging switching jobs without stopping.
