S&G to spend 6m on Heidelberg kit

S&G Print Group is spending 6m with Heidelberg as part of the ambitious investment plan it revealed earlier this year.

The Merthyr Tydfil firm, which was awarded a 3.6m Regional Selective Assistance grant by the Welsh Assembly in May (PrintWeek, 23 May), will start its Heidelberg spend with a CD74-5 LYYLX due to arrive in February.

It will be followed by an eight-colour Speedmaster 102 with CutStar sheeter next June, then a 12-colour 102 in January 2005.

S&G is also buying four Heidelberg folders two buckle models and two combination machines plus two pile turners and a guillotine.

The firm has already gone live with one of the two Muller Martini PrimaPlus stitchers it ordered in a 3m investment earlier in the year. The other was being commissioned this week. It will also install a Muller Corona C15 perfect binder.
