Searching for power savings

Reports of the environmental impact of the internet could help boost print's image as a greener medium.

Research by Harvard University physicist Alex Wissner-Gross found that internet searches generated around 0.2 grams of CO2. He also calculated the CO2 emissions caused by individual use of the internet, finding that viewing a web page generates around 0.02g of CO2 per second, according to The Sunday Times.
