All the forestland has been certified to the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) standards. Since the Swedish pulp producer started the programme in 1998, it has certified more than 1.2m hectares, or 60%, of its members forest areas.
Sdras forest conservation manager, Jan-ke Lundn, said Sdras target was to certify 1.6m hectares, or 75%, of its members forest area in line with PEFC standards by the end of 2005.
More than a third of the raw materials used in the groups Sdra Cell pulp mills come from certified forests.
However, due to demand, Lundn said the aim was to increase the proportion of certified raw materials supplied to Sdra Cell.
