Safeway's Harris joins Delta

Richard Harris, the former head of print purchasing at Safeway, has become poacher turned gamekeeper, joining Point of Sale (POS) specialist The Delta Group

Harris was appointed operations director and will have responsibility for overseeing the firm's sales and marketing teams.

In his previous role at Safeway, Harris, pictured left, had responsibility for its supplier base and handled an annual print budget of over 30m. He left after a restructure of the supermarket chain's head office following the takeover by Morrisons.

Prior to joining Safeway in 1997, Harris was trained at the London College of Printing and had experience in offset printing.

"My initial role at Delta is to consolidate the core business of POS and promote our associated services and products," he said. "Having worked with Delta when I was at Safeway I know its strengths well."

The east London-based company has also appointed Ken Hayzer, pictured right, as sales manager. He was previously sales and marketing manager at POS manufacturer Capital Print & Display.
