Gruner + Jahr and Quebecor have both been mentioned this week as possible players in a new venture. But Gruner + Jahrs UK head Mark Pfeiffer said his firm was definitely not involved.
John Ashfield, sales and marketing director of the UKs only multi-site gravure operator, Polestar, said he had heard rumours but had no facts.
KBA was also mentioned as the favourite to win the press supply contract, but UK managing director Christian Knapp refused to comment.
Argos Retail Groups Steve Haithwaite admitted he had been in talks with a potential player, but he, too, declined to reveal any further details.
