Quark is showing a beta version of QuarkXPress 5 in order to gain first hand user feedback before finalising its new features. The fully revised version of the software, which is due for release at the end of the year, will be able to create a document and output it to print, to the Web or in an electronic version.
A number of new features are already finalised including the ability to create PDFs from directly within the application. It will also be possible to author web pages with image maps, hyperlinks and rollovers. The finished pages will be fully editable in HTML.
Among the most requested additions already included in Quark 5 are font collection when collecting for output, multiple undos, preflighting, a larger pasteboard and improved locking to make items totally uneditable.
