Quark snaps up software ally

Quark has bought extension software firm A Lowly Apprentice Production (ALAP) for an undisclosed sum.

Quark interim president Linda Chase said the move was "an ideal strategic fit for both companies," adding that ALAP's imaging, imposition and productivity tools were a "natural complement to QuarkXPress".

ALAP president and now Quark vice president of product development Paul Schmitt said: "We're familiar with Quark technology and confident we'll integrate our products into the Quark family very quickly."
