Prolitho steps up to five-colour

Prolitho has invested 1.5m in a five-colour B1 Heidelberg Speedmaster press.

The CD 102-5LX, which was installed over Christmas, was configured with ImageControl spectrophotometry and Pre-Press Interface, offering closed-loop colour for clients including Cond Nast and NatMags.

"Demand for better prices is twinned with a need for high standards," said Paul Clark, managing director of the 19-staff Croydon firm that produces leaflets and brochures for blue-chip firms.

"The new press will allow us to apply specials and a coat. We can output work faster and cut makeready sheets from around 500 to 100.

"This benefits the customer in terms of cost but maintains quality.

For overall solids the rolling power of the CD 102-5LX is magnificent," he said.

The firm hopes to notch up ISO 9000 for eco responsibility and a health-and-safety ISO 18001 in the near future.
