Printing Charity seeks ‘True Picture of People in Print’ ahead of 200th anniversary

Lovell: Everyone's perspective matters

The Printing Charity is seeking answers about the state of the profession, as it evaluates its position ahead of its 200th anniversary in 2027.

To help understand how it can best support workers in print and its allied trades, the Printing Charity has begun circulating a survey which it hopes will reach all corners of the UK print industry.

“We all see how the industry is evolving and changing at a rapid pace,” Neil Lovell, CEO of the Printing Charity told Printweek.

“Finding out the impact for people working within it means we can better provide the right support and resources to help them. No charity can respond to every need so it’s important that we focus on what really matters, and this research will help us identify just that.”

Lovell added that anyone working in print, paper, packaging, graphics or publishing was welcome to complete the survey.

“Everyone’s perspective matters,” he said.

“We’d be really grateful if people could share the link to the web page housing the survey link, and other information, with people in their companies and their networks,” Lovell added.

The survey is the first time that the Printing Charity has carried out research of this kind, asking for in-depth input from workers across the industry.

“Every charity has to look at how best to deploy its resources to best meet its aims and this research will bring into focus the key issues being faced by people working in our sectors, the good and not so good,” Lovell said.

“This, and future research, is vital to ensure we are acting with as much insight as we can have. Our hope is that this insight, coupled with our deep connection to the sector and strong relationships within it, will give us a 360-degree view from which to focus our services and support now, and into the future.”
