Prices go up for Agfa pre-press products

Agfa has announced substantial price increases for its pre-press consumables, to take effect from 1 March.

The firm blames soaring costs of raw materials, energy and transportation for the price hikes, which it said were "on average double digit".

UK managing director Laurence Roberts (pictured) said customers were informed of the changes in January after Agfa hinted at hikes following November's quarterly results.

All UK digital plate prices, including value brand Lastra's, will rise by 10%.

"Many other consumable firms have had to do the same because they have exactly the same pressures with raw materials," Roberts said.

He said the price of aluminium had gone up by a third since last October.
