Premier Paper is to offer Asset reels from Mougeot and Signal Plus sheets from Carrs Paper to replace Sappis Transcript carbonless grade, following the closure of Transcript mill last year (PrintWeek, 12 October 2001).
"We are confident that the products that we are now offering are the best replacements for Transcript," said Premier Paper marketing director Rob Viner.
He said that although Premier Paper already stocked both products, and had sold them for a number of years, it had still needed to talk to the suppliers about the additional volume required.
Carrs Paper managing director Keith Lewis said the decision reflected the commitment, product quality and service that Carrs provided for merchants and printers.
"With Signal Plus now the only British-manufactured volume carbonless sheet, Carrs remains as committed as ever to the carbonless sheet market," he said.
Premiers decision still leaves MoDo Merchants yet to announce a replacement for Transcript. Beswick Paper Group has decided to stock Mitsubishi HiTec Papers Giroform Ultra and Excel carbonless sheet products.
Sappi announced in October last year that it was to step out of the carbonless market and close the Transcript mill early this year with the loss of 203 jobs, as part of its disposal of non-core assets.
