PPL boosts capacity with second Agfa Jeti Mira

Programme Publications (PPL) has invested in another Agfa Jeti Mira flatbed printer, doubling its capacity for wide-format work.

The Liverpool-based sporting events printer installed the Jeti Mira at its 1,860sqm facility in early summer, helping to cover its busiest season.

The 2.7x3.2m printer is the fourth Afga machine PPL has purchased and one of two of the same model it currently operates.

The system features a roll-to-roll option, LED curing, and advanced 3D lens technology. Both of PPL’s models offer six colours plus white with primer and are managed via Agfa’s Asanti workflow software.

The machine has been hard at work printing display POS for sporting events over the summer, as the bulk of PPL’s business comes from designing and printing materials for international sports events and organisations.

However, the company purchased the model with the long-term aim of growing the commercial part of its business.

Around 40% of PPL's output is commercial work for local agencies and retailers rather than sports organisations, a side it wishes to expand to fill new capacity.

PPL production manager Nick Holloway said: “The machines have been flat out producing materials for our summer events. We’d now like to keep that going with an increased level of commercial print or perhaps a new winter sporting client.”
