The installation comes hot on the heels of an investment in the UK's first Screen TruePress 344 DI (PrintWeek, 11 November).
The company's first NovaJet 1000i, purchased through distributor Colourgen and reseller Newcastle Computer Services (NCS) during the summer, joined a NovaJet 700 and an 850 to boost the firm's ink-jet arsenal. Chris Hill, PPD's large-format director, said that the second 1000i would replace the 850 "in the next month or so".
He said that the investment had been made because the company is "very busy, with more and more repeat work and work on the exhibition kit side."
"The 1000i is twice as fast as others the 850 would do an exhibition banner in half an hour, and the 1000i in 15 minutes, so it doubles your capacity," he said.
Hill reported that recruitment for the TruePress had been completed, but that the NovaJet would bring no immediate expansion to the 10-strong workforce. He added that he was particularly impressed by the drying capabilities of the 1000i, and the machine's ability to print unattended.
