The new press will be delivered in August 2005, and continues the firm's extensive investment programme, which includes full JDF networking in its press hall. Managing director Shaun Currie said he expected to look at installing a third around 15-17 months after the second Heidelberg has been installed.
The first six-colour CD 74 with anilox coating was installed at Potts in March last year. Further investment has been made in the finishing department, with two new Polar 115 guillotines and a TH66 folding machine.
In the past four years the North Shields-based printer has increased its turnover from 1.25m to 6m, and is currently producing 5,000 plates per month and more than 12,000 jobs per year.
