Phoenix Colour Print in Leicester is installing a Screen TruePress 544 at the end of this month and will use it to offer complementary services to its existing customer base.
"The issue wasnt speed, it was more for added value," said Phoenix chairman Peter Davies. "There are a lot of jobs where we could do text on digital presses and the cover on the TruePress."
The firm will trial the press for a couple of months before it makes the final purchase.
The TruePress 544 digital offset press has a maximum speed of 3,600 four-colour A3 sheets per hour. It uses an Adobe RIP, and images jobs directly onto flexible polyester plates for printing at up to 2,400dpi. It can also print spot colours.
Phoenix, which was formerly known as Phoenix Photo Litho and Phoenix Digital Print, also runs two Chromapresses.
The company has also signed up for the hand-fed rotary creasing device launched by Tech-ni-fold (PrintWeek, 23 March), for its digital presses.
