Pharma buys GUK folding system

Pharma Finishing, part of the Loughlin-Pharma Group, has purchased a GUK folder, which will allow it to fold sheets into 168pp miniature booklets.

In addition to folding, the machine can add a perforated adhesive tab to each booklet. The tab seal is designed to keep the miniature booklets closed until the customer needs to read the contents, as well as allowing for easy mechanical insertion.

Tony Aspey, managing director of the Liverpool finishing house, said: "This kit gives us the capability to provide the cost-effective alternative to a glued outsert."

The GUK system is equipped with two folding sections, a six-plate and a 12-plate, in addition to an aqua-alcohol scoring system. The system maintains high moisture content when scoring the sheet, which makes for intricate folding patterns.

Aspey said: "Our main areas of business, including pharmaceutical, telecoms, and food and beverages sectors, will be keen to exploit the opportunities offered by this comprehensive folding system."
