Paragon Labels has completed the purchase of Bezier Labels, effectively creating
a new power in UK self-adhesive labels.
Bezier will now concentrate on its core activities: specialist point-of-purchase and printed textile provider, Bezier Creative Print; and corporate literature printer Bezier Corporate Print in Poole.
In the immediate term, Bezier Labels will operate as a trading division of Spalding-based Paragon, with a consolidation of commercial systems and processes completing the transition.
Commenting on the deal, Bezier chief executive Brian Dudley stated: "The UK self-adhesive label market is currently extremely competitive. Therefore to succeed, we believe Bezier Labels needs to be part of a large self-adhesive label group who are committed to a substantial label business."
The sale provides a strange twist of fate for Paragon's managing director Tony Lennon, resulting in him effectively purchasing back the business that he ran when it was part of Wace. After leaving Wace, Lennon set up Paragon in 1994. It now employs 165 and has sales of 20m.
In a statement Lennon said: "We have met with the Bezier staff and will be maintaining close communication with everyone."
Bezier said it was "fully committed" to growing its remaining businesses.
