The Californian firm claims its Vesper calibration tool, which can be dropped into existing workflows and RIPs such as Harlequin, can cut ink costs by a quarter.
The software eases problems of grey-component replacement like reductions in image detail by substituting varying amounts of CMY with black.
Meanwhile, Vesper adjusts the sizes of CMY dots without eliminating them to reduce ink use, said director of sales and marketing Karen Barr.
The software comes as an upgrade for Newscolor halftone proofing users.
