New Jarrold Printing gets Norwich Union contract

Norwich Union has given the contract to print its new lifestyle magazine to New Jarrold Printing (NJP).

The deal was placed by London-based publisher Halcyon and the 64pp quarterly publication, Norwich Union Magazine, will be distributed to 550,000 25- to 45- year-old policy holders. The first issue will be rolled out this month.

NJP's contract covers the first six issues and the Norwich-based firm's commercial sales director Simon Rigg said he hoped the print run would increase.

Norwich Union print solutions manager Chris Williams added that the insurer "welcomed the opportunity to work with a local company with the capability to deliver the quality demanded for the high profile publication".

The magazine will be produced on NJP's short cut-off Lithoman press, which according to Rigg, gives the firm a "competitive advantage in producing magazines in a smaller than A4 format".

* NJP was expected to get planning permission for its proposed 40m site at Wymondham in Norfolk, at a planning committee meeting on 12 January.

The town council recommended planning approval for the site in December. South Norfolk council has received 48 letters in protest against the development and one in favour.
