Merged Image Evolution picks up Indigo 3050

Digital printer Image Evolution is making inroads into the museums and galleries sector after the installation of a HP Indigo 3050 press.

It replaces the firm's Indigo 1000 and follows Image Evolution's merger with greetings card specialist Cornflower Press last August. The company is chasing more business for short-run and on-demand work from museums, galleries and other cultural institutions.

"We see that sector as a growth area for us," said Image Evolution sales director Gary Mitchell. "Digital printing has been instrumental in changing our processes, allowing us to bring new designs regularly and quickly to the market."

The work incorporates the printing of postcards, greetings cards and note-cards.

"Cornflower Press used to outsource the work to litho printers which resulted in long print runs and huge amounts of stock left in storage," said Mitchell.

He added that there were plans to add another HP Indigo press to the business although was tight lipped on when he'd make the move.
