Mercia Image continues spending spree with 80,000 kit purchase

A print company that invested 1.5m earlier this year on a new site and kit has shown that it isn't afraid to keep spending by splashing out a further 80,000.

Little Eaton-based Mercia Image has already invested in a new Mitsubishi five-colour press, as well as moving from its previous site in Derby.

Now it is updating its finishing department with a Muller Martini Presto saddlestitcher and a Schneider guillotine.

Mercia’s 5,550bph stitchliner cost £55,000, while the £15,000 guillotine has a digital programming option.

The firm has also invested in personalisation software for its digital press. The XMPie professional personalisation software enables Mercia to add names, personal details, images and items such as tear-off vouchers to any printed item.

Amanda Strong, company director, said: This software is a fantastic marketing tool and a distinct advantage over global marketing and leaflet drops.

Mercia Image employs 18 staff and currently has a turnover of £1.2m. The company was established in 1988 and counts Derby City Council, the NHS, JCB and Warwick University among its clients.
