The new management and sales team at Carrs Paper has unveiled a series of strategic changes, including new personnel and product focusing (PrintWeek, 23 March).
"We have realised the changing market conditions in the carbonless field and acted quickly," said new managing director Keith Lewis.
Carrs exited the listings paper market (a form of continuous stationery used for computer listings) last year, and will now concentrate on its Ximage digital carbonless paper and New Signal Plus products.
"Our competitors are major multinationals, but we are small and have the ability to change, which we thrive upon," said Lewis.
In addition to the appointment of Lewis, Roy Quigley, former national sales manager for Xerox, has joined and will lend his digital expertise to the Ximage product team.
Dr John Wigzell, formerly with Tullis Russell, will head up the firms specialist paper and film arm.
He will be responsible for developing Carrs new decal product, Transcal, which it launched five weeks ago aimed at the ceramic and glass industry.
Another new product is Rapaid, a coated film product for wrapping around steel to act as a vapour corrosion inhibitor.
Lewis said Carrs was pushing into the US market, having established a sales base which will explore the opportunities for Ximage.
