The firm has been linked with a UK plant for several months, and in March PrintWeek revealed that a German group was looking at a site in the Derby area (PrintWeek, 7 March). Sources have also suggested that Maul-Belser is considering three sites, among them one in the Sheffield area.
There was clear local undersupply in UK gravure. But investment in the short to medium term would create a situation fraught with considerable dangers.
