"We wanted to add to our consumables and this is an extension of our product range," said MAN Roland GB regional sales manager Joe McDonald (pictured left with Lastra Imaging UK managing director Mike Warnes). "There is a gap in the market for quality, at the right price."
The agreement will be to supply the Agfa subsidiary's full range of products to the UK including conventional, thermal and photopolymer plates.
"We want to be associated with a professional organisation like MAN Roland," said Warnes.
* MAN Roland GB is also entering the coatings market with water- and UV-based products.
The decision follows the acquisition of German-based coatings manufacturer Druchie Service by MAN Roland's chemistry supplier Fuji Hunt.
Water-based products will be labelled under Fuji Hunt while the UV-based products are likely to be branded under MAN Roland.
The company has targeted a 14% slice of the 21m UK coatings market.
