MAN Roland has claimed a world first at the TPG exhibition in Paris this week by linking a DICOpack digital press to a laser cutting device.
Henri Mohrlok, sales director digital printing for Somagra, MAN Rolands French agent, said the link was primarily targeted at label printers who wanted to get into the short-run on-demand market.
The DICOpack was connected to a Laser 350 cutter from Italian firm Cartes Equipment on the stand of French distributor Graphique Informatique Concept (GIC).
"We have many customers in the on-demand market who want this kind of product," said Mohrlok.
"You usually have to use a mechanical cutting device and print sheetfed offset."
Users also had the option of cutting offline or of printing special colours on another press, he added.
