Made4Print lets users size up ink

Made4Print has launched Printcalc software designed to help digital printers determine how much ink or toner a job will use.

The Bedfordshire-based firm showed the product on the Punch Graphix stand at Digital Print World.

Printcalc can be integrated with existing costing and estimating software to provide an exact percentage of coverage for CMYK-based inks.

"While a rough estimate is usually good enough for a conventionally printed job, due to the volumes involved when you're producing a smaller number of copies, ink or toner coverage needs to be calculated far more accurately," said Made4Print managing director Tony O'Neill.

The software calculates ink or toner from a PDF of the job, and users can click on a separation for each of the four colours. The software links with TimeHarvest's DigiQuote and JetQuote job estimating products, which are available from Made4Print.
