Like the firms existing HP Indigo machines it will be devoted solely to producing personalised print.
We are already the highest specification digital printer in the UK with three HP Indigo 3000s, said Paul Williams, the head of Lorien Younique, the firms printing division. We will be increasing our printing capability soon with the addition of an HP Indigo w3200, making us the first print house in the UK to install this state of the art technology.
Studies and our clients experience demonstrates that the response rate from personalised mailings is significantly higher than from standard mail shots.
The HP Indigo w3200 produces up to 133 A4 pages per minute, using twin HP Indigo print engines.
It claims to be the first UK company to install image personalisation software from German firm DirectSmile.
The software can personalise contone images, with text that looks like it is part of the texture of the image, such as spelling out the customers name in flowers or flying birds.
Lorien is a research and training provider for automotive, finance, IT, retail, utilities and telecoms sectors. Customers include Esporta Health Clubs and Ford.
Last year the company produced more than 4.5m pieces of personalised literature for Ford alone.
The firm has rebranded its digital print operation as Lorien Younique.
The printing division was set up in March when we were called Lorien Digital Colour Print, said Lorien Younique marketing business development manager Dan Pike. But we feel that the new name better reflects what we do.
