Lightning hits 10m title mark using Infoprint

Lightning Source has printed its 10-millionth on-demand book using IBMs Infoprint printers.

The 10-millionth book was the biography Edison: A Life of Invention by Paul Israel and was produced at the firms headquarters in Tennessee, USA.

The book was first published in 1998 using offset printing. Lightning Source also has a UK base in Milton Keynes.

Lightning Source has more than 2,300 domestic and international publishing partners and its digital library now includes more than 100,000 titles from religious texts to academic books. Lightning Source chief executive J Kirby Best said: The moral of the on-demand story is that everyone wins authors, publishers, retailers and consumers.

Lightning Source produced its one-millionth on-demand book just two years ago.
