Leachprint kits up for web-to-print venture

Pharmaceutical printing specialist Leachprint is moving into the web-to-print sector after installing a booklet production system from Intelligent Finishing Systems.

The Abingdon-based company has installed a 4,500bph Horizon SPF/FC-200A with a view to attracting new business in 2011, when it will also add a digital press.

Production director Ian Austin said: "Next year is a big year for Leachprint. Expanding into web-to-print is the best way to go. We are trying to develop as many strings to our bow as possible to offer something to suit everyone."

Leachprint, which employs 28 staff, already works with a number of charities and schools, but the installation  of the Horizon machine will allow it to expand this work.

Previously, booklet work at the 100-year-old £1.75m-turnover company was outsourced, which, the company said, added extra time and costs to the jobs.

Sales director Chris Williams added: "In the current economic climate, it is all about maintaining and improving the service that we provide to our customers. The Horizon enables us to be more competetive on price and to complete the job faster. In addition we stay in coontrol of our work."

"Next year is a big year for us," states Production Director Ian Austin. "Expanding into web-to-print is the best way to go. We are trying to develop as many strings to our bow as possible and offer something to suit everyone. We are playing a bit of catch up but we know the Horizon system is going to help us do that."
