The deal, which is due to complete on 31 August and was for an undisclosed sum, will give Konica Minolta a major foothold in North America's plate market.
"We have reached the point where a modern US plate manufacturing facility is required to best support our customers," said Konica Minolta US president Steve Schuster.
No further details of the deal were available, but Konica Minolta has said that it will also produce a range of its own existing and new plates at the Michigan plant.
Konica Minolta is due to launch a positive plate, the Duros HST2, which requires no pre-heat and is now in beta testing, according to Creo documents seen by PrintWeek.
