David Jarrett has left Drent UK following a disagreement over future strategy.
Jarrett joined the firm as sales manager in October 1999, following an 18-year career with Komori. His remit was to expand the firms narrow web clients in commercial print.
He described his departure as a "parting of the ways" because of differing opinions over the future plans for the business with Drent UK sales director Greg Handley: "It was handbags at six o-clock, and a case of two personalities that were too alike," said Jarrett. "If you have a friend that youve known for years, dont go and work for them."
"Drent buying Goebel put a lot of pressure on all of us," he added.
Jarrett is currently on gardening leave "although its too wet to work in the garden" and expects to remain in the printing industry.
Handley declined to comment on Jarretts exit, other than to say it was by mutual agreement. He said the firm, which is changing its name to Drent Goebel UK, would be advertising for a replacement. It is now the exclusive UK distributor for Drent and Goebel, and Goebels arrangement with its former UK distributor Mallett Machinery has been terminated.
