Italian packing firm Seda sets up Wales base

Italian-owned packaging group Seda is expanding in the UK with the creation of 190 jobs at a new plant in South Wales.

Seda, which already has an operation in Buckinghamshire, received help from the Welsh Assembly though Regional Selective Assistance.

"As part of the investment, the board has decided to invest in the development of our UK operations to allow us to increase both our product range and manufacturing capacity," said Seda president Antonio D'Amato.

Seda produces cartons and flexible packaging for sectors including fast food, dairy and ice cream. Clients include Coca-Cola, Danone, McDonald's, Nestl and Unilever. It has 12 plants in the UK, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Portugal. Its headquarters are in Naples and last year it had a turnover of 220m (E330m).
