The modular ink-jet system is designed for short-run personalised direct mail work. Matti chief executive Dieter Woschitz (pictured) said the machine's "main advantage is its personalisation capabilities".
The flagship product is the high-speed DataRacar unit, which can print on web widths from 200 to 500mm at speeds of up to 150m per minute, depending on the print head. Using Kodak Versamark heads, it can print on a wide variety of substrates.
He reckons that the DataRacar's ability to run inline with rival's units will be a benefit to users, but admitted that while "this is an advantage for customers, flexibility can be a disadvantage [for manufacturers]".
The DataRacar starts at 41,500 per unit, with the basic set-up costing 83,000 with with one print head.
