All the sites plant, equipment, land and buildings will revert to Inveresk. In August, Klippan said it would end manufacturing at Caldwells.
Inveresk is also in talks with Fife Council and Scottish Enterprise Fife over the future development of the 18-acre site.
The group received 100,000 in lease rental income for the site this year, but it said that the loss of future rental payments until 2007 was far outweighed by the development opportunity.
