Its Remote Director proofing system conducts a check of a live job through a display-based proof rather than a paper proof.
In a test at US printer Inland Press, a minder used a Remote Director display beside the press in a special light-booth manufactured by Graphic Technology to compare the contract proof to the press sheet.
Based on the findings, he adjusted the press settings and produced a press proof, then, using a wide-format scanner, scanned it into a Mac running Remote Director software. Within four minutes the image was available via the internet for viewing by the pre-press house handling the job.
ICS vice president of operations Dan Caldwell said the test showed that colour-accurate, display-based digital proofs were practical and effective in replacing hard copy proofs throughout the production process.
Confidently maintaining a job entirely in digital form until its on press can result in significant savings of time and money, he added.
