The firm liked the quality produced by the Colorbus and especially its ability to emulate existing proofing standards such as Cromalin.
Its ability to drive multiple output devices from the same RIP was also behind the purchase, which was made at Ipex.
Icon is considering purchasing further printers for proofing, and wanted to buy a front-end that enabled it to expand its capacity with minimal investment.
It is also poised to install a Xinet WebNative asset management system backed up with FullPress OPI.
"The whole idea is to enable customers to work online," said joint managing director Mark Bauer.
