At least six unnamed UK firms have already adopted the technology, which allows users to give depth to 2D images. Unlike previous 3D imaging software, HumanEyes 2D to 3D does not use layers or tracing to create the effect.
Instead, users define certain areas of the image as foreground, middleground or background. The software then uses an algorithm to calculate the correct depth for every element of the image.
The package will be available by the end of the year, although pricing for the UK has not yet been defined.
Tony Newton, sales director of UK distributor NCS Integrated Solutions in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, said that it would be sold as an add-on to existing Human-Eyes users, or would be offered as a separate module for new users.
"This launch is huge. It means that all existing 2D content can become 3D content. Without it, you would have had to start from scratch to create a 3D image," said Newton.
