Hello! publishing director Sally Cartwright has called for an international third-party certification symbol for paper, and launched a scathing attack on UPM-Kymmene chief executive Juha Niemel.
She lambasted him for refusing to allow paper produced at UPM-Kymmenes Caledonian Paper mill in Scotland to bear the UK Woodland Association logo.
"The UK Woodland Association has agreed recognition with the Forest Stewardship Council, but I am told that as Niemel is Finnish, and not in favour of the scheme, he will not allow it," said Cartwright.
Cartwright said publishers wanted one symbol, not a plethora of schemes.
