Heidelberg has sold over 1,000 of its latest flatbed scanner, the Nexscan, in the first year of production.
The 1,000th unit was sold to an American publisher, Walworth Publishing in Brookfield, Missouri, as part of a 10-scanner deal.
"The Nexscan exceeds all our expectations," said head of pre-press business unit Thomas Doliwa.
In November alone the group shipped 120 of the products.
In the same month, the firm also shipped 49 of its vertical drum scanner, the Primescan, and it also celebrated the sale of its 1,500th drum scanner in October.
The Nexscan family comprises the F4100 and F4200 scanners, which have optical resolution of 5,080dpi, an A3-plus scanning area and the xyVariLens optical system.
"Thirty-three years after production of the first Kiel scanner, they are still a strong pillar of its activities," added Doliwa.
Heidelberg also produces its Newcolor 7000 scanning software at Kiel.
